best of E3 2010

best1
Nintendo
nintendo e310 winner
Nintendo won best press conference for numerous reasons. First of all they focused on cherished classics rather than motion-centric games, secondly they cut-out the cheesy jokes, and lastly they introduced the Nintendo 3DS which blew fans away.

best2
Nintendo 3DS
3ds e310 award

Going into E3 it was the Kinect and the PlayStation Move that people were interested in most but the moment that the 3DS and its catalog of games debuted everything changed. We knew that the 3DS would premiere but who knew it would be so awesome! The fact that it requires no glasses to get the 3D effect should be reason enough for it to win but when you consider its large catalog of games; it is an easy choice.
best3
Rage
rage e310 winner
When I sat in for the demo of Rage I was turned off at first, as this post-apocalyptic style game seemed very much old hat. A few minutes into the demo, however, my opinion quickly changed. Rage marks the triumphant return of id software, who created the FPS classics Doom and Wolfenstein. Their latest offering, Rage will please any shooter fan with its variety of unique weapons and edge of your seat tension building moments.

best4
Fable III
fableiii e310 winner

Lionhead 's Fable series has had its ups and down but their latest edition to the series, Fable III seems to be every bit the game fans have hoped for. The game's co-op is light years ahead of the previous game; featuring individual cameras for players, and individual identities and customizations whether playing alone or with someone else. The game will also feature a much deeper story and have a much larger ripple effect in the decisions you make as they will not only affect you but an entire kingdom.
best5
Vindictus
vindictus e310 winner
It is simple to write off Vindictus but I encourage you to give the game another look. The game stands apart from any other MMO with its brutal style and real time physics, and its quality is poised to set new standards for free-to-play games.

Disney Epic Mickey
epic mickey e310 award
When I spoke with Warren Spector about his goal for Disney Epic Mickey he told me it was to "make Mickey as big a video game star as he is in other mediums." From what I have seen thus far he is well on his way to achieving that goal. Epic Mickey will introduce everyone's favorite mouse to a whole new generation of gamers, and flip popular Disney universes.
best7
Dead Space 2
dead space2 e310 winner
Although Visceral Games will amp up the action in Dead Space 2, its horror elements will remain just as potent. Not only is there a whole new cast of monsters, our hero Isaac Clarke, has developed a rare form of dementia which will make the experience that much more frightening and jarring.
best13
NBA Jam
nba jam e310 award
EA managed to hit all the right notes in reviving this fan favorite. NBA Jam will feature the same two-on-two game play style, a classic campaign mode, and will even feature the voice of fan favorite Tim Kitzrow.
best9
Civilization V
civilization V e310 winner
The Civilization series has long stood head and shoulders above other strategy games and Civilization V is no different. With a larger range of options, an in game hub, and stunning visuals and audio; Civ V will cause many sleepless nights for strategy fans.
best10
Rock Band 3
rockband 3 e310 winner
This was a hard decision at first but after weighing all the benefits of Rock Band 3, it is the clear winner in this category. Rock Band 3 is taking the music genre of games into new territory with its addition of MIDI instruments and Pro Mode for real musicians. Not only will it be the most realistic music game to date it will also be a lot of fun. With a party mode, a beefier campaign, and some 2000 tracks available for download; Rock Band 3 will please many a music fan.
best8
Dance Central
dancecentral e310 winner
Boy, was this a dark horse or what? When I first heard of Dance Central I almost instantly wrote it off but after seeing the demo for it I had a change of heart. Utilizing the Kinect, Dance Central will allow you to do fun and realistic dance moves, as opposed to stomping wildly on a DDR pad.
best14
Kid Icarus: Uprising
kid icarus e310 award
Fans have waited far too long for a new installment in the Kid Icarus series and at long last it is has arrived. One of the very first titles to be launched for the 3DS; Kid Icarus will have insanely fun looking projectile air battles as well as ground melee battles.
best12
Scott Pilgrim VS. The World: the Game
scott pilgrim e310 award
I am sure you are scoffing at my choice but don't be so quick to judge. Scott Pilgrim is an 8-bit classic beat-em-up style game that will allow you to play with up to three friends on a single console. You can do over the top style combo attacks with your partners in glorious 8-bit style courtesy of pixel artist Paul Robertson, as well as view cut scenes created by Bryan Lee O'Maley (Scott Pilgrim creator).
best11
Nintendo 3DS
3ds e310 award2
No matter which attendee I met or spoke to at E3, it seemed our conversation always shifted in the same direction; toward the Nintendo 3DS. It simply captured the imagination of almost everyone at this year's expo. Not only is the device a breakthrough in 3D technology for its ability to create 3D images without the use of glasses, it also has a downright epic starting catalog of games. I think it is easily this year's best in show.
