According to Activision, Modern Warfare 2 is on its way to breaking some sales records. In just one day Activision has made some $310 million in sales for the game in the US and UK, and if their numbers are correct that puts them at 4.7 million units sold.

Originally Grand Theft Auto IV held the highest sales record for a day one launch, with about 6.3 million copies sold worldwide. Not only does Modern Warfare 2's numbers blow all other previous sales records for video games out of the water, it also sets the a record for highest day one sales of any form of media in history!

Activision publishing CEO Mike Griffith stated "The Call of Duty franchise has become a cultural phenomenon showing the power of video games as an entertainment medium."

Keep in mind this is only the first day of sales, and the holiday rush hasn't even begun, so I would recommend getting your copy as soon as humanly possible.
