A look at Metroid: Other M

First unveiled at E3 2009, Metroid: Other M was the big surprise to come out of the Nintendo press conference that year. Since then information on the game has been kept pretty quite until now. Here is our look at Metroid: Other M.

Synopsis:

For one of the most popular video game heroins in history, Samus Aran has an almost nonexistent back story. That issue has been remedied with Metroid: Other M, as it is being touted as the game that explores the past of Samus Aran. The plot will focus on what is described as the haunting past of Samus and what drove her to become a bounty hunter. It is a story that will have elements of guilt, and failure, as well as redemption.

Deep story - Other M will be the most in depth Metroid story from the series thus far. It will begin right where Super Metroid left off. The setting will be aboard a decommission space facility, where Samus will meet her first mentor and commanding officer, Adam Malkovich.

Third to first person view - The most impressive thing that I have seen thus far from Other M is the perspectives. You will have the ability to play from a third person or first person perspective, and switch between these two views any time you wish. There will even be moments of the game that your camera angle changes to mirror the classic 2D side scrolling view.

Team Ninja - Metroid: Other M is the collaborative effort of Super Metroid Director Yoshio Sakamoto, and the folks behind Ninja Gaiden Team Ninja.
