4 stars
Dropping in a year after the release of Resident Evil 5, Lost in Nightmares is the first DLC pack for the game. It includes the Lost In Nightmares chapter of Resident Evil 5, as well as the Mercenaries Reunion. The pack ads a good amount of new content to the game but is it an enjoyable experience?

Déjà vu anyone?
Lost in Nightmares Mansion
Lost in Nightmares takes place in a very Spencer Mansion like setting, in which Zombie Vets Chris Redfield and Jill Valentine are tracking down series antagonist Albert Wesker. It is within this setting that Jill and Chris will encounter challenges and enemies that echo of the now deceased days of the Resident Evil franchise.

What I loved

Lost in Nightmares Hallway
Classic feel – A major complaint that fans expressed with Resident Evil 5 is the absence of the franchises core elements within the game. Capcom however, has tried to make up for that with its first DLC offering. Creepy atmospheres, tight spaces, and low ammo are all elements of Lost in Nightmares. All of which combine to create an almost uncanny experience that mirrors that of the original game.

Lost in Nightmares Enemies
The Monsters – The monsters in Lost in Nightmares are pretty frightening in their design, and create a few really good high tension scenes. The creatures are somewhat reminiscent of Lisa Trevor, who was downright terrifying in Resident Evil one.

What I hated

Lost in Nightmares Catacombs
Too Short – The entire Lost in Nightmares chapter is about an hour in length, which is just enough for a taste of what the franchise once was. I understand that this is only a DLC pack but I was hoping for just a little more game length.

Lost in Nightmares Enemies 2
A little repetitive – I enjoyed the new monsters introduced in the DLC pack, however (other than a few starved Majini) they were the only monsters. It would have been nice to see a few more enemies thrown into the mix.

The Verdict
Lost in Nightmares Cell
Although the Lost In Nightmares chapter is extremely short and a bit repetitive, I enjoyed playing it. Lost In Nightmares was crafted with a great deal of care and consideration to the core fans of the Resident Evil franchise, and that is made evident through its pitch perfect ambiance and style. If you already own Resident Evil 5 and are looking to revisit the glory days of the Resident Evil franchise, than Lost in Nightmares is worth the price of admission. We give Lost in Nightmares 4 out of 5 stars.
