Oh joy, oh rapture, at long last Dark Shadows is being adapted to film! Tim Burton will be directing, and it should start shooting in 2010. Although all of Burton's time will be spent on Alice in Wonderland, he plans to start work on Dark Shadows immediately after. When asked he told MTV "That's something that (Depp and I) both love and are excited about," he went on to say "When I'm done with this I'll definitely focus on that."

The above statement certainly indicates Depp's involvement in the film, but that is not certain at this point. Although we would all love to hear that Depp will be taking on the role of our most beloved vampire, there is nothing to confirm that.

Despite the speculation of Depp's role (please be true, please be true), we do know that Burton will be directing, and that shooting will start in 2010.
