Last week we reported on the most pirated video games of 2009, which was taken by Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. This week we have the most pirated TV show of 2009, and the news comes to us via Torrent Freak who is currently doing a series on "the most pirated of 2009."

The top spot for most pirated TV show has been taken by none other than NBC's Heroes, which has some 6,580,000 unauthorized downloads. A surprising development considering that the show has lost a large amount of its fan base. Heroes is only one of two shows on the list (Dexter being the other) that has higher pirated views than US TV views.

If there is one thing this list proves, it is that a shows popularity isn't always determined by its number of TV viewers. As said before the number of unauthorized downloads for Heroes is much higher than US TV views. Although the numbers may change the perception of the shows popularity, it may not be enough to save it from its rumored cancellation, as TV ratings are ultimately what keep a show running.
