Today Barnes & Noble announced that they will officially be releasing a free B&N eReader app for the Apple iPad. An announcement that seems strange considering Apple and B&N are in the trenches of an eReader war.

Apple iPad headed to US April 3

Fans rejoice, because Apple has made it official! the Apple iPad will launch in the US April 3, and will be available for pre-order March 12. Although the basic models will be available for the launch date, fans will have to wait just a little longer for the 3G models, which are set for a late April release.
