Quake 3 port shows off Droid graphics

The folks at Android and Me put out a challenge to a few developers to port Quake to the Motorola Droid some time ago. Not only was Quake 2 successfully ported but to their surprise Quake 3 was as well, and its frame rate looked remarkably good.

The developer behind the Quake 3 port is Thunderbird2k, who has titled the project kwaak3. The game looks pretty good on the Droid, although the frame rate drops if you play on a larger map with four players. That said, the game runs well considering that it was ported in only a few short days.

The open source project is ongoing and is open for improvements. Check out the video above and get more information on the project at the kwaak3 page.
