Fans rejoice, because Apple has made it official! the Apple iPad will launch in the US April 3, and will be available for pre-order March 12. Although the basic models will be available for the launch date, fans will have to wait just a little longer for the 3G models, which are set for a late April release.

Along with the basic iPad, the iBooks app for the device will be available for free download on launch. The iPad will be available in the both basic and 3G models in late April for Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK. More countries will be getting units later this year.
