When you consider the size of a place like the American Museum of Natural History, it is easy to understand how one could get lost inside of it. If you have ever missed out on an exhibit for that very reason, there is an app that can help prevent that from ever happening again, and the best part is it's free.

Announced today, the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) explorer app will give users the ability to traverse the museum, lone ranger style, without the assistance of a tour guide. Using the museum's new Wi-Fi system, the AMNH explorer app can pinpoint where you are in the museum and give you turn-by-turn directions to any of its numerous exhibits.

The app features pre-loaded and custom tours that you can create for specific exhibits. It also features highlights of each exhibit within your browser, as well as Twitter and Facebook integration for sharing info on the exhibit.

You can pick up the AMNH explorer app at the app store now.
