The Rocket Project from Sony and Intel, is by far one of the most creative product promotions I have seen in years past. The project will not only be giving a great opportunity to a few deserving high school students but hopefully birth an awesome YouTube video.

"The Rocket Project is giving a group of highly dedicated science students the rare opportunity to take their ideas beyond the surface of the Earth and actually reach for the stars."

Sony will be giving 8 high school students a VAIO CW series laptop to design and build a rocket capable of reaching the stratosphere. The students will prepare for the project by doing an accelerated rocketry course with Tom Atchison, who is the Director of the Association of Rocket Mavericks.

The rocket will be 25 feet tall, and weigh 500 pounds. The brain of the rocket will be powered by the VAIO Z-Series, and VAIO F-Series will serve as mission control. Launch is set for April in the Black Rock Desert north of Reno, Nevada.
